Zenless Zone Zero, with its fast-paced and satisfying combo-based combat and random Hollow Exploration, has won over numerous players. As someone who’s been through the early game, I’m here to share a down-to-earth guide covering all gameplay aspects—new players can follow this to avoid countless detours.

Don’t get obsessed with farming dungeons in the early stages—the main story is your top priority. Progressing through the main quest unlocks core features like the Net, Hollow Exploration, and Driver Disks. You’ll also earn massive amounts of Tinnies and Sonor Core EXP; as your Ropemaker Level increases, your Stamina cap will rise too.

Additionally, the "Starter Trio"—Anby, Billy, and Nicole—gifted by the system are more than sufficient. Their attribute synergy is well-balanced, allowing you to steamroll early main story and regular Hollows. Prioritize maxing out their levels and Sonor Cores first—there’s no rush to pull for new characters.

Stamina should be used wisely—prioritize farming upgrade materials for your main team. There’s no need to obsess over Driver Disks before Level 45; the purple set from the main story is more than enough. Blindly farming will only waste resources, and you’ll have plenty of time to catch up later.

The Starter Banner is a must-pull—you’re guaranteed an S-Rank within 50 pulls, which is a sure profit. For Limited Banners, prioritize Lycann and Jean—both have reliable strength. Only use the free pulls from the system on the Permanent Banner; don’t waste precious currency. If you want to quickly stock up on gacha resources, many players choose to top up directly with COCODP, which is ideal for those looking to build a strong team fast.

When building a team, follow the formula: "On-field DPS + Quick-Switch Break + Support/Shield." For supports, prioritize Yao Jiayin and Caesar. If you don’t have them, pair buffers based on your main DPS’s element—Cang Jiao works well with Ice teams, and Lucy is a good fit for Fire teams. For Bombu, the one gifted by the system is enough for the early game; pulling specifically on the Bombu Banner has extremely low cost-performance and is a total waste of resources.

The core of combat is triggering "Stagger"—either use Elemental Advantage or deplete the enemy’s Toughness Bar. Once the enemy is staggered, unleash Co-op Skills to max out damage instantly. During Hollow Exploration, keep a close eye on the Noise Level. Don’t choose paths randomly; prioritize opening Treasure Chests and triggering Buff Events. If you can’t win, retreat—failing will make you lose some resources, so never force a fight.

After reaching Level 45, the Golden Driver Disk dungeon will unlock—then you can farm sets targeted. Participate in Participatory Defense Battles and Crisis Assaults to get High-Tier Materials, and gradually develop a second team to tackle High-Difficulty Dungeons. The game’s pace is relatively relaxed; there’s no need to pursue a full build. A maxed-out Rank A character can still tackle high-tier content—just enjoy the game process.
